The year was 1982 and John Caffery was commissioned to write and perform the soundtrack for a pilot film. The rest is history: "Eddie & the Cruisers" became a rock cult classic with a triple-platinum soundtrack. JC's soulful, raspy voice propelled the movie's theme "On the Dark Side" to Number One on the Billboard Rock charts and MTV Video charts, while the movie's second hit "Tender Years" - featuring band mate Michael "Tunes" Antunes the multi-talented sax player and co-star of the film - rose into the Top Ten of the Billboard AC charts.

Working with his Beaver Brown Band beginning in 1973 - the legendary live performers on the Northeast shore tourning circuit were frequently joined on stage by friends such as Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Mitch Ryder, Gary U.S. Bonds and the list goes on - Cafferty's follow-up album "Tough All Over" would again score success. The title track "Tough All Over" gave this rocker his second Number One on the Rock Charts, while the single "C-I-T-Y" ran into the Billboard Top Twenty.

With two multi-platinum soundtrack albums and over 35 songs appearing in movies - John Cafferty's film credits include Sylvestor Stallone's "Rocky IV" and "Cobra", the 1999 blockbuster "There's Something About Mary", "Jersey Girl" and the rock'n'roll cult classics "Eddie and the Cruisers I & II".

EQUINE EXTREMIST TOMMIE TURVEY TO PERFORM DURING “THEATRE OF THE SPANISH HORSE”

August 31 – Sept. 1, 2007. The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse Association invites the public to attend the National Celebration of the Pure Spanish Horse evening show “Theatre of the Spanish Horse” being held at 7:00 p.m. Friday night, August 31st and 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, September 1st at the South Point Equestrian Event Center. Pure Spanish Horses, known in Spain as the Pura Raza Española, are one of the rarest breeds in the United States. They have long been known and admired by royalty as the “Horse of Kings.” Their incredible beauty, kind nature and amazing athletic ability will captivate anyone who has the good fortune to “meet” one of these fantasy creatures. Many of our American breeds including the American Quarter Horse have Pure Spanish Horses in their backgrounds. Pure Spanish Horses have been featured in the films “Lord of the Rings” and “Kingdom of Heaven,” the Medieval Times Dinner Theatres, and other equine acts.

World famous Horse Extremist, Tommie Turvey, will perform his daring trick horse acts both nights. An accomplished performer in many disciplines, Tommie works in all aspects of the entertainment and equine industry. You’ve probably seen him in feature films, television commercials, as a featured performer at dinner theaters, a specialty feature act at a touring circus, a main character in a wild-west show, to performing his “extreme” shows at horse expos, equestrian events, rodeos, fairs, and numerous international horse shows around the world.

Tommie’s partners and traveling companions are his prized paint horses. Pokerjoe has been with Tommie for seven years and has travels over 100,000 miles a year performing in front of thousands of people. He is the veteran of the herd, is a solid performer and “upstages” Tommie in the “Riding Instructor” comedy act. While just six and seven, Joker and Ace, Tommie’s black and white paints are quickly growing towards stardom. Tommie acknowledges, “You are as only as good as your horse. With discipline and respect comes love and understanding. I am deeply honored to perform during the National Celebration Show of the Pure Spanish Horse. The beauty and nobility of the Pure Spanish Horse is second to none.” In addition to Horse Extremist Tommie Turvey, planned exhibitions include performances by Medieval Times Dinner Theatre head trainers Tom Reed and Cherri Reiber with their fabulous stallions performing the great leaps known as “airs above the ground” and high school exhibitions where the horses literally “dance” to music. Featuring top trainers and horses from all over the U.S., many other exciting performances are also scheduled including longlining where the horse is guided from the ground and traditional Spanish riding disciplines.

The Theatre of the Spanish Horse ticketed event is a benefit for The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity. This is a family oriented event and show admission is only $25 general admission through the South Point Box Office. Children under 13 are admitted free. More information is available at www.southpointcasino.com and www.prehorse.org. The South Point Equestrian Event Center is located at 977 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas. For tickets call the South Point Ticket Office at 702-797-8055. For Horse Show information call The Foundation at 505-294-0800 or 505-350-1589.

The National Celebration daily horse show is free beginning with a dressage show on Wednesday Aug. 29th and halter and performance classes Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Theatre of the Spanish Horse exhibition is a superb entertainment value and is family friendly. Come join us and let the “Horse of Kings” gallop into your heart.
