BELMONT, N.H. --There's a report this morning that will bring smiles to the new owners of the greyhound racetrack in Belmont (New Hampshire).

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports the Attorney Generals Office has cleared the owners to conduct pari-mutuel wagering at the track.

The report says the A-G approved Mississippi-based Torguson Gaming Group for the wagering license, clearing the way for the renovated track to re-open, perhaps as early as this weekend. The state Pari-Mutuel Commission has scheduled a special meeting for this morning.

The former Lakes Region Greyhound Park now is named the Lodge at Belmont. It has been closed since April 2005 after two employees were indicted in New York on illegal gambling and money-laundering charges.
