Could gambling bring jobs to the Ohio Valley? That's what West Virginia gaming resorts are telling law makers, this as West Virginia Governor Bob Wise works to set up a special session to pass a local option on table gambling. Governor Wise wants communities that have a race track to vote whether or not they want to legalize table gaming. If approved those in the business say the move could create hundreds of new jobs in our area and thousands throughout the state of West Virginia. C.E.O Geoff Andres, "table games are tremendous job generator at Wheeling Island alone it will generate over 300 good paying jobs." Wheeling Island is the third largest casino in West Virginia and Andres says the larger casinos would create even more jobs, "some of the bigger casinos I'm sure will generate 700, 800 jobs." Andres says table gaming jobs are good paying but labor intensive. Those opposed to legalizing table gambling, such as some of the local churches, argue the move will bring corruption to the area.
