The Belize Tourism Board and Love FM’s Family Summer Tour Program starts today on Love FM. Coordinator of the event, Brian Mossiah, tells us more.

“The BTB Love Family Summer Tour is the second of its kind and this year we’re hoping to make it bigger and better.The BTB Love FM Family Summer Tour is a program designed to engage Belizeans living at home and those living abroad,to pay close attention to those places in Belize that are known tourist destinations and even those places that are not necessarily tourist destinations but they are nice places that Belizeans can learn more about and spend time with their families to enjoy.The objective then is to get Belizeans to communicate with the radio stations where in Belize they would like to spend their family vacation and why,which brings them to do their homework.What they don’t know about Belize is easily accessible via the internet of where the biggest magazines produced by the Belize Tourism Board and all of the other stake holders in the tourism industry.And so we are encouraging Belizean families to pay keen attention and we’re giving them a minimum of two time per hour starting at 9 o’clock in the morning and depending on the programming at night on Love FM,they will also get the opportunity to call and say where in Belize they would like to spend their family vacation and why.When they do that,if they did a good job,the announcer on duty will use his or her discretion to give them tickets which we refer to as chances of winning the grand prize which will be drawn at the end of each month.June,July and August alright,the last Friday in each month we will have a drawing and the willing family will get seven days to organize themselves.It’s a family of five so you will have to get five people together during that time as the coordinator will be coordinating the tour and then the tour starts the following Friday and it runs for 7-9 days.Why we say 7-9 days it depends on the participating stakeholders in the various districts.We’re hoping to spend one a minimum of a day in each district so that the family can truly say that they visited each district in the country and they were able to go on a tour in that particular district to see the sights and the wonders of this great nation of ours.Now that’s for June and July for the Belizean family and Belizeans living in Belize.”
Belizeans living in the United States also get their chance to participate in this program.

“The Belizeans living abroad,wherever else in the world,get an opportunity to win by simply writing to lovefm.com,where in Belize they would like to spend their family vacation and why.And everyday we monitor that and that information will be read on air so the people hear what the Belizeans living abroad are saying.Every letter that we get on air will be given an opportunity a maximum of five tickets in the barrel to be drawn at the end of August,the last Friday in August.Depending on where the family is from,we would give the enough time the maximum of 14 days to organize themselves and then we coordinate their tour.The program seeks to bring the Belize family from abroad from Continental US to Belize.They go on their 7-9 days tour and back to Continental US.So for arguments sake let’s say that there’s a family living in China and wins that particular draw,then that family would have to find themselves from China to mainland Continental US and then we’ll take over from there with Continental Airlines to get them to Belize and then back.”
According to Mossiah, one of the highlights for interested participants is that they have a choice of radio stations to air their responses.

“This program is being offered on all three systems,More FM,Love FM and Estereo Amor.So our latino families will be able to call in on Estereo Amor,tell us where they want to spend their family vacation and why and they get their chances.The youths of this nation will be able to listen to More FM,call in on More FM and tell us where they want to spend their family vacation and why.So across the board Belizeans at every level will get an opportunity to win.”
