Thousands celebrate Christmas in Macau

Thursday, 27 December 2007 Thirty thousand Hong Kong people conjested the entry ways of Macau as most of them began their Christmas holidays on Tuesday. Information from the Chinese language Macau Daily newpaper showed that the number of arrivals reached 55,000 as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. Among the arrivals, there were 20,000 Hong Kong tourists arriving in Macau via the ferry terminal, and 25,000 Mainland tourists of which 20,000 came in via the border gate. Most of the tourists said that they would like to enjoy the Christmas festival atmosphere in Macau. As the number of casinos is continued to surge in 2007, most of them expected to experience a new festival celebration here in Macau. Tourists from Mainland China wanted to experience the festival atmosphere here because there will not be as much Chistmas celebrations and decorations in Mainland China. Tourists from Hong Kong wanted to experience an exotic festival atmosphere as a result of the American style casinos that have been built. The most popular visiting site would be the Venetian. Most of them said that they would take the casino buses to visit the casino as they are free and convenient. However, they also complained that it was difficult to get taxis. Macau Daily Times News
