Tioga Downs exceeds expectations

NICHOLS -- State Sen. Thomas Libous and other officials at Tioga Downs handed out hundreds of scratch-off New York Lottery tickets to consumers who attended the racino's ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning.
It's unclear whether any of the tickets were winners. But the several thousand visitors who enjoyed the facility's 750 video gaming machines on July 4 achieved $343 win-per-unit, Tioga Downs said.
The gaming portion of the entertainment complex, which also features harness racing, opened Independence Day after several delays the previous week due to flooding affecting the region.
"Tioga Downs gaming opened beyond our expectations," said John Arnesen, president and chief operating officer of Nevada Gold & Casinos Inc., which through a subsidiary, is a principal of Tioga Downs. "We received great reviews by the customers, and we anticipate a robust summer as we introduce our gaming product to the marketplace."
