Tioga Downs finished off its two day festivities for the Tompkins-Geers Stake races on Monday night (July 24).
Marcus Johansson and Don’t Blink Twice won the second division for 2-Year-Old Colt & Gelding trotters in a track record time of 1:59.3.
The $100,000 yearling purchase is trained by Jimmy and owned by Don’t Blink Twice Partnership of Versailles, Ky. Penn Monie Mosie and driver Brian Zendt was second while Springboard and Tony Schadel closed late for third.
Jimmy Takter and Quite Easy won the other division for 2-Year-Old Colt & Gelding trotters for the Quite Easy Partnership of Versailles, Ky. It was 2 ½ lengths back to That’s Hall Folks and Ron Pierce in second while Double Take and Mike Simons was third.
Driver Daniel Dube and Omen Hanover stole the first division for 2-Year-Old pacing fillies, reaching the half mile pole in 1:00.4. It was then a blistering back half in: 55.4s that repelled any challengers to cross the wire in 1:56.3. Dragon Flier K and Mike Simons finished second while Spring Break and Brian Sears closed late for third.
Elusive Prey won her second in a row here at Tioga Downs with driver George Brennan in the second division for 2-Year-Old pacing fillies. Sitting the pocket trip behind heavy favourite Fiore Hanover, Brennan found racing room down the stretch to win in 1:56.2. Prime Suspect and driver-trainer J. Duke Sugg was second while My Face and Mike Simons came first over and finished third.
It was track record holder South Park Hanover and driver Brian Sears who won the $22,700 final of the Tioga Tirade.
Sears sent the 4-Year-Old son of Artsplace right to the front and never looked back winning by 5 ½ lengths. Long shot H H BlackJack finished second for driver Claude Huckabone III while Upscale Hanover and Jim Meittinis closed late from third.
Ron Pierce and Costly Legs won the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace in 1:54.3 for trainer Trevor Warwick.
Brian Sears, George Brennan, Mike Simons, and Kevin Sizer won the 1st annual golf outing held at Tioga Country Club Monday morning with a score of twelve under par.
