Tritt was one of the leading new country singers of the early 1990’s, holding his own against Garth Brooks, Clint Bland and Alan Jackson. He was the only one not to wear a hat and the only one to dip into bluesy Southern rock. The Marietta, GA native developed a gutsy, outlaw image that distinguished him from the pack.
Throughout the 90’s, he had a gold album, T-R-O-U-B-L-E (1992), and a string of platinum albums, It’s All About To Change (1991), Ten Feet Tall & Bulletproof (1994) and Greatest Hits: From The Beginning (1995). These albums spawned several Top Ten singles, including three number one hits, “Help Me Hold On,” “Can I Trust You With My Heart,” and “Foolish Pride.”
His latest release, The Storm, is Tritt’s very first studio recording as an independent artist. It features this singer/songwriter as a thoroughly modern performer in the new country mold without giving up his integrity or backwoods character. With Storm, he delves deeper into his bluesy, rock, and soulful side, while collaborating with “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson. While this choice might surprise some, Jackson played bass in the band, Journey during the 1980’s, and recorded, toured and performed with Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna, Elton John and Destiny’s Child.
