Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel officials will finally be able to show off their new facilities during Friday’s grand opening ceremony.
After more than a year of construction, the $110 million project has finally come to fruition.
“The grand opening is an opportunity to for us to introduce the project to the public,” said Dan Stromer, general manager of Meskwaki. “There have been lots of questions and anticipation and we’re finally able to open the doors and welcome people in.”
During the grand opening ceremony guests will have the chance to view the updates which include new hotel rooms, a spa and exercise room, additional gaming space and a new entertainment facility.
“[I’m very proud of] the amount of effort the project workers and our staff have put into this project,” Stromer said. “It’s mostly satisfying because just seeing it gives me a sense of accomplishment. The finished project is one that can easily stack up to other gaming facilities around the country.”
The grand opening celebration will begin with a 9:30 a.m. ceremony and will be followed by a tribal dance and a message from Meskwaki tribal council representatives. A ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. will signal the opening of the casino to the public.
Area residents will also have incentive to check out the casino during following weeks. More than $200,000 in cash and prizes will be offered July 28 through Aug. 13. A 2006 H3 Hummer will also be given away as an award.
“We’ve really put a lot out there so people can have fun and enjoy the opening of this project,” Stromer said. “This is really a celebration of what has gone on in the last year of construction. It will be a fun event for everyone.”
The quality of workmanship is another thing Stromer said the public will enjoy.
“I think everyone is going to be surprised,” he said. “They’ll be able to stand back, take a look and get a good feel for it.”
According to Stromer, the Meskwaki tribe is also looking forward to the opening.
“When you look at the overall project, you can see that it means a lot to the tribe, casino and surrounding community,” he said. “This is a positive reflection of the area and state to see such a first class facility.”
Stromer also said he highly encourages community members to attend the grand opening ceremony.
“An opening of a $110 million project isn’t something that happens everyday,” he said. “That and all the money give-aways are great. I just welcome everyone to come and be a part of it and see the excelled facilities.” |
