CASCADE LOCKS, Ore. - Two Oregon Indian tribes are battling over Portland-area casino dollars.
The Grand Ronde tribe, owners of Spirit Mountain Casino, commissioned a report that questions the idea of a casino in the Columbia River Gorge.
But the Warm Springs tribe, which wants to build a casino in Cascade Locks, calls that report flawed and deceptive.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is expected to release early next year its own environmental impact study on the casino proposal. If it\'s favorable, a Cascade Locks casino could open by late 2008 or early 2009.
The Grand Ronde says allowing a casino on non-tribal land will open up the floodgates for more casinos everywhere.
