Three Inland tribes with casinos have contributed $2.35 million to a new independent expenditure committee called Team 2006.
The committee, created last week by several gaming tribes, recently paid for mailers, television production, and polling to help the Republican incumbent in a San Diego-area Assembly race.
It also paid for polling to support the GOP incumbent in a Ventura County district.
Team 2006 donors include the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of Palm Springs, which has donated $850,000; the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians near Temecula, which has contributed $800,000; and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians near Highland, which has donated $685,715.
In addition, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation in San Diego County has contributed $800,000 to the committee.
The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians near San Jacinto and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians in Santa Barbara County are the other members of Team 2006.
