RALEIGH, N.C. Don Blackmon says he's having trouble eating, but at least he'll be able to afford anything he wants for a while.
The 56-year-old Charlotte truck driver won a (m) million dollars in Saturday's Powerball drawing by correctly picking five numbers and using the game's Power Play feature to multiply his win by five. After taxes were withheld, his prize was 680-thousand dollars.
A second (m) million-dollar ticket from Saturday's drawing was bought in Connecticut. That's according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs Powerball.
Blackmon is the first Charlottean and only the second North Carolinian to win such a large prize from the five-month-old North Carolina Education Lottery.
He says winning the money won't change him. Blackmon says he'll keep playing the lottery and keep working two jobs. His second job is as a maintenance worker. |
