I'm new to the forum but thought I'd let everyone know about this petition to bring down the cost of gambling in Europe. For anyone who bets on soccer or tennis events taking place over there, you'll know how bad the value we get on our odds are.

Well the reason for this is the EU's decision to allow the governments of Portugal, Germany, Greece and Norway to stop their citizens accessing the bookmakers of their choice. Instead these guys have to go through the state-run bookmaker, which has a total monopoly. Not only do consumers in those countries pay more, but everyone who bets on European events, becuase of the reduced competition between gambling suppliers

It's out of line, letting governments protect profits rather than letting the market set prices, as it should be. There's a petition at www.right2bet.net to change the situation.
