The Anchorage Assembly on Tuesday will consider a proposal to outlaw smoking in some of the last public buildings where it is allowed: bars and bingo halls. A majority, six of 11 Assembly members, have already declared themselves in favor.

Today we present the voices of a sampling of your neighbors, in separate stories where people speak for the smoking ban in bars and against the ban.

Hum, as a non-smoker, I think this is great, but I know when I went to bingo parlors 30 years ago with my mom, the smoke was bad.

Do you think this will hurt the bingo business? Is the addiction to gambling stronger than the addiction to nicotine?
