The Venetian Macao resort is holding firm on its refusal to pay out a jackpot won by a sister of an employee last Friday.
The slot machine jackpot of reportedly more than HKD1 million was won as part of a promotion of its Cotai Rewards Club and as such, was subject to added conditions, the resort said.
A press release issued by the company yesterday said it discovered the winner was an “immediate family member of a Venetian employee” as part of “ the appropriate steps [taken before this prize”.
The release said the conditions were published throughout the casino and reward club counters and stated that “family members of employees of Venetian Macao Limited” were excluded from the promotion.
The casino has referred the case to the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau which is investigating and expects to issue a finding this week, director Manuel Joaquim das Neves told the Macau Daily Times.
The conditions placed on the promotion by the Venetian are standard throughout the world, said Mr Neves. However the DICJ is investigating if the company completely complied with the rules of such promotions, such as the requirement to display the conditions in the casino.
The Venetian said it would “observe any direction” given by the DICJ. |
