RALEIGH – Video poker machine owners, players and store owners sued the state today, saying a new law banning the games is unconstitutional.

The lawsuit filed this afternoon comes as the Oct. 1 deadline to begin phasing out the machines approaches.

In two weeks, machine operators and businesses have to cut the number of machines from three to two. By March, they can only have one machine. A complete ban takes place next summer.
