With their slightly naughty lyrics and campy on-stage costumes – Native American, Soldier, Hard Hat, Policeman, Cowboy and, Biker –The Village People became an instant phenomenon at the height of the disco dance craze with hits such as “Macho Man,” “YMCA,” “Go West” and “In the Navy.”
After a brief hiatus in the late 1980s the Village People regrouped under new management and in greater control of their destinies. Since then The Village People has built an amazing success story of live performances worldwide, motion pictures, new young audiences, and television and video appearances.
And with more than 65 million recordings sold, they’ve living proof of the title of their 1980 motion picture Can't Stop the Music
