PORTLAND, OR 2006-07-14 The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs unveiled the name and the design Friday for a controversial new casino in the small town of Cascade Locks. As Kristian Foden-Vencil reports, tribes say the "Bridge of the Gods Columbia River Resort Casino" is designed to reflect an ancient fishing village.

Tribes say the casino will appear as a series of low-lying structures that vary in height, depth and composition. Guests will enter under a towering waterfall. Tribal spokesman Len Bergstein says now the details are released, people can offer feedback.
Len Bergstein: "We were just trying to set the table now as we enter that next phase of looking at all the studies, for people to understand what kind of a facility we're talking about, so they can understand the impacts."
Governor Kulongoski approved the casino over the objections of conservationists who say it will bring traffic jams and pollution.
The project still needs to complete an environmental review. This would be the first tribal casino to be built on non-tribal lands in Oregon.
