Wild West Night Brings Cowboy Style Food And Fun

Hoosier Park will take a leap back in time Saturday, Sept. 15, transforming the track into the Wild West. The crowds can herd out to the north apron to enjoy Wild West food and entertainment.
Patrons can listen to music provided by local band, Power Tubes. The band will perform from 5 until 7 p.m.
Also appearing at Wild West Night at Hoosier Park will be S.L. Pemberton. The trick roper from Milan, Tenn. will provide rodeo style entertainment with his award winning roping show. Pemberton has been roping crowds since he began performing on his father’s horses when he was 10 years old. Now, he performs with his wife, Loretta, and his two sons, Cy and Seth. The family act has performed across the U.S. and Canada. The duo of Loretta and S.L. Pemberton has also performed their act at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.
Pemberton will highlight roping tricks starting at 6 p.m. followed by shows at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Both shows will be located on the stage on the north apron.
People can catch the behind the scenes action with barn tours given from 5:15 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. In addition, fans can see some unconventional action with a mule race, which will be contested following the first race of the evening. Mules will sprint down the Hoosier Park homestretch for the title in the second annual “Mule Duel.”
For those who want to display their own rodeo skills, there will be a mechanical bull on the grounds. After showing off on the bull, patrons can play their luck in the 50/50 raffle. The Madison County Human Society will receive the other 50 percent of the proceeds.
People can cure hunger from the action with food and drink specials. BBQ food specials with Jack Daniels drink specialties will make a city slicker feel at place in a John Wayne movie.
Along with the wild off the track, the day will host the first stakes races of the season. There will be finals of three Quarter Horse Stakes, including the RGIII $60,000-est. QHRAI Stallion Auction Futurity. The $25,000-est. QHRAI Stallion Auction Derby will also take place to close out the evening.
