Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club Review Jump to comments

Following is a dated review that is interesting for it's historic importance, many things have changed since this was written, and many remain the same. Enjoy!

The Daytona Beach Kennel Club is pretty old. It has the look of a forgotten area. I have actually visited this club five times as it is open on Tuesdays and there is no legal poker games in Jacksonville.

The live greyhound racing at Daytona Beach Kennel Club is good and it is as a decent dog track, it looks better than the poker area they have. I took my 9 and 6 year old daughters down there and they had a blast checking out the dogs as they were being 'saddled'. They enjoyed watching the races and got very bored in between, but there was only 5 minutes, at the most, downtime in between races. They also offer simulcast wagering and have a separate area just for simulcast wagering. They also have a very nice upscale restaurant at Daytona Beach Kennel Club.

The good news recently here is that NASCAR recently bought out the poker room and dog track and they are starting from scratch and building a new facility close by the old location.

This should give Daytona the  opportunity build a state of the art gaming area for both racing and poker, Floridians keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully by the time renovations are complete, Daytona will get a slot law passed and increase revenues even more.

The poker room at Daytona Beach Kennel Club is a bit smaller than the poker room in Jacksonville and it also has a different spread of games. It has Stud and Hold'em as well as daily tournaments. They also spread a game called Daytona Hold'em. It's more appropriate name should be Poker Bingo as it is more of a luck game than a skill game. The object is similar to hold'em, but the catch is everyone places a $2 ante and the betting rounds almost always cap out at the $8 max with 8-10 people seeing a flop. The variance here is so great that a tight player could make out like a bandit if the cards are hitting, or they can go broke in 15 minutes if you cant catch a flop. I like the game from a spectators point of view, but as for playing it makes you ill thinking about the possible swings that can occur. I went with a gentlemen who was down from $200 to $6 and got it back over $350. I also saw him lose over $1000 in the five trips we made down there.

The play at the Daytona Hold'em tables loosen up the regular Hold'em tables and the two times I played I sat for a total of 2 hours and made around $150 which is darn good for a $2 game. Overall the poker room is old and dingy looking. There are stains on the carpets and on the tables. The dealers and staff are friendly but the regulars down there are arrogant and borderline (insert your own derogatory comment). They offer food and beverage like the other tracks.

Daytona Beach Kennel Club and Poker Room??? Does your facility have slot machines. I've been searching for a casino in the Daytona area with slot machines and can't find anything listing "slots". Thanks.

Sorry to say there are no slots nearby. We aren't seeing anything in the news that points to new machines coming into the area either. If you don't mind driving about 75 miles to Port Canaveral, Victory Cruises is a top notch operation. Our partial review is here http://www.worldcasinodirectory.com/casino/victory-casino-cruises-3656 and you can get to the company web page from there or http://www.victorycasinocruises.com/ Good luck! And thanks for stopping in.
