Update Sept 2023. After initially planning to close its Golden Gate Fields horse racing track at the end of the year, the Stronach Group has agreed to keep the horse racing track open another six months, into the middle of 2024. According to reports, the track will apply for racing dates for the first half of next year. If everything goes according to plan, the track likely will receive the dates and then close next summer after 80 years of racing.

The owner of the San Francisco Bay area horse track said the move to permanently close is being made to help prop up racing at Santa Anita and training at San Luis Rey Downs in Southern California.

Golden Gate Fields is located along the San Francisco Bay off of I-80 in Berkeley, California offering premier thoroughbred action since 1941. It offers simulcast and live horseracing every week with gates opening at 10:00am.

It’s the perfect place to come with friends or family and enjoy the big day watching great action on the racetrack as well as having a great time with friends/family. Golden Gate Fields offers a variety of venues ideal for business meetings, wedding reception, parties, shows, tradeshows, conventions or any social gatherings. Its banquets/ballrooms can have theater or classroom style seating options. All venues are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi and hospitality services.

The Directors' Room

The Director’s Room is a venue exclusively for VIP Guests. The venue is located within the Turf Club offering a private suite decorated in mid-century theme.  It can host a private party or any other private functions having a capacity of accommodating up to 35 delegates.

The venue accepts both adults and minors.

The Trackside Court

The Trackside court is an outdoor venue with views of the saddling paddock and race track.  Guests can order refreshing drinks and full-bar service is available upon request.

Premium Box Seats

The Premium Box seats offer great views of the racecourse and paddock from each premium box. Guests can enjoy the action as well as wagering on their favorite horses while enjoy meals and drinks from their premium box seats.

The Players Patio

The Players Patio is situated on the Club House level offering premium dining under market umbrellas. It offers great views of the racecourse and guests can enjoy Prime Rib Buffet and full bar service.

Club House

The Club House is situated between the Grand Stand and Turf Club offering indoor and outdoor seating. Its indoor seating features a variety of TV screens to view the races and the outdoor venue consists of box seats accommodating up to 8 guests.
