Update: Oct 2022 - As part of a $100 million expansion, Treasure Chest casino is moving onto land and broke ground on the land-based casino on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022. According to the floating casino's operator, Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming, the new one-level venue will be built on the current site of the Treasure Chest's parking lot on the east side of Williams Boulevard just inside the Lake Pontchartrain levee. Construction is expected to begin by the middle of 2022 and in addition to a 47,000-square-foot gambling hall includes 10,000 square feet of convention space, alongside new restaurants, bars, and a FanDuel Sportsbook. The new land-based casino is expected to open in early 2024.
