Update Oct 2022: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol officials will break ground on the new $400M casino on Wednesday, Dec. 7th, 2022. Construction is scheduled to take 18 months to complete and Hard Rock Bristol is expected to open in July 2024. At that time the temporary casino, "Bristol Casino, Future Home of Hard Rock", will shut down.

"Bristol Casino - Future Home of Hard Rock" celebrated its grand opening on July 8, 2022, in Bristol, Virginia, just seconds off Interstate 81 (Exit 1 in VA), at the site of the former Bristol Mall. The temporary full-service casino located inside the former mall includes 30,000 square feet of casino space, along with 870 slot machines, over 20 live table games, and a sportsbook. *In March 2023, the temporary casino expanded its gaming space and added additional slot machines and blackjack tables with lower minimums. The venue is also home to a trio of dining options, including and a sports bar and lounge with live entertainment, and a Rock Shop. Guests are also able to take advantage of the brand's  'Unity by Hard Rock' global loyalty program.

Hard Rock International's temporary casino will reportedly operate during the construction of the permanent, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, which is expected to open within two years (2024).

Plans for the permanent facility include a two-tower, 600-room hotel, a convention and meeting space, a total of 7 restaurants, including Hard Rock Hotels’ signature upscale restaurant, Council Oak Steaks and Seafood, and 4 bars/lounges, a 3,200-seat Hard Rock Live venue, a 20,000 seating capacity outdoor entertainment venue, a country-western nightlife experience, and a Hard Rock Cafe with a stage, a Rock Shop and retail store, a Rock Spa and Body Rock fitness center, convention space and more.

According to the most recent plans for the Bristol property, the facility will also reinclude nearly 100,000 sq ft of gaming space with 2,700 slot machines, 100 table games and sports betting, along with a racing experience, sport experience and interactive sports and e-sports simulator.
