A legal battle between a Thermopolis couple and the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office opened for trial in Casper’s federal courthouse Tuesday afternoon, where Chris and Larry Bentley are seeking compensation for the killing of one of their horses by the undersheriff – without their knowledge – nearly four years ago.
