Birmingham Race Course Review Jump to comments

The Birmingham Race Course/Birmingham Greyhound Racing (originally the Birmingham Turf Club) is located on Derby Parkway, off John Rogers Drive, in  Birmingham, Alabama. Currently a greyhound racetrack and simulcast center, the facility started out in 1987 as a thoroughbred horse racing venue. Greyhound racing was added in 1992 and thoroughbred racing was discontinued in 2005. Also in 2005 "Quincy's MegaSweeps", an internet café was introduced to the property but that part of the facility was soon shut down by the sheriff. The Race Course is operated by the Jefferson County Racing Association.

Today visitors will find live greyhound racing most days except Sunday every week of the year, as well as simulcast betting facilities accepting bets on live broadcast races of thoroughbreds, including stakes races, as well as greyhound races. There are over 200 simulcast races presented every Saturday and the facility is open 7 days a week.

Well welcome to ghetto......I use to love going here for the freeplay but I had to stop bc this place is a terrible joke. Make ya wait for hours for freeplay giving out a couple dollars every hour & the drawings are a complete waste of your time & energy. Witnessed people yelling before a name is even called out (rigged by bribbed employees via reprinted vouchers). Word of advice If ya win a jackpot make sure u ask for a security escort to your vehicle bc in order to receive your winnings your money must be counted on on the counter in front of the whole casino, felt like I was being set up to be robbed. No need in voicing any type of complaint bc nothing will be done besides getting yourself banned. The way the treat people is appalling, the night shift manager is constantly harassing people by following them around & constantly asking questions. Can't even sit at the bar at night & order a drink without getting ran off. To say this place is under staffed is a terrible under statement & the few employees they do have act like they don't want to be there. I think this must be a requirement for employment bc every hard working upbeat employee has been fired for the craziest reasons. This place has amazing potential but it's almost as if the management doesn't care at all or wants the place to fail.
