Golden Harbor Casino Review
Update 3-2-2017: Gulfport Casino has changed its name to Golden Harbor Casino.
Owners of the Magnolia Bluffs Casino in Natchez along with civic leaders in Gulfport, Mississippi announced in January 2016 that Mississippi Coast Entertainment LP had been chosen to build a $140 million casino resort in the city. Plots associated with the proposal include the site where fromerly Rotate Black had tried to build a casino and Hemingway branded hotel. So far over 4 acres of land have been secured and about 6 more acres are under negotiations. The casino would be built one one side or the other of the current U.S. Coast Guard building on or near Gulfport Harbor Street.
Accompanying the casino would be a 300-room, four-star hotel, entertainment venue, parking garage and an extra attraction as required by Mississippi gaming regulations.
Some speculation has arisen that developers could tie into a world-class aquarium project that is planned for land that involves parcels stretching from 23rd Avenue to the former Gulfport library location.
