Update: Jamaica plans to have its first integrated resort casino open to the public by start of 2020. However, In March 2018, the government was deciding whether to revoke the casino license issued to Harmony Cove.

Harmony Cove, Jamaica is scheduled to break ground in 2016. The casino resort will be built on over 2,000 acres in Trelawny -  between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. The development will occur in two phases - once at least 1,000 hotel rooms have been built, the company can receive their casino license and proceed with the second phase of development. A minimum of 2,000 rooms are required at full build out. A reworked plan now calls for  “multiple lodging” options including villas, large and small hotels, and various amenities and attractions. The new price tag for development is $1 billion.

Harmony Cove is a partnership between the state-owned Harmonisation Limited  and Tavistock Group. Tavistock will control 51% of the venture.

More details will be included as they become known. Completion date for the project has not been announced.
