Update, April 2024: The Ione Band of Miwok Indians proposes to develop a casino on trust land. The project site consists of federal trust land within unincorporated Amador County in Plymouth, California. Construction of a tribal casino by the Tribe has been delayed for years by legal challenges from an anti-casino advocacy group. The last of the litigation ended on Monday, April 15, 2024, when the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a Ninth Circuit ruling that affirmed the tribe's legal right to build a casino in Plymouth, California, ending 17 years of legal wrangling to try to stop the tribe from building the casino. 

In 2020 the State of California and the Tribe signed a gaming compact granting Class III gaming rights to the tribe, which is now working with the City of Plymouth to finalize construction plans. Currently, the "reduced project" includes the construction of a single-story casino with 25,205 sq ft of gaming, less than 350 Class III gaming devices, 10 table games, a bar, a café, kitchen and grab-and-go, and a 5,568 sq ft outdoor entertainment area with approx. 372 seats and surface parking with 672 spaces. No hotel or event spaces. 

The Project Site is located on the east side of State Highway 49/Golden Chain Highway (SR 49),
approximately one mile south of the City of Plymouth downtown area.

Amador County's third tribal casino is to be located 15 miles northwest of Jackson Rancheria Casino and 16 miles north of Harrah's Northern California Casino. The Ione Band of Miwok Indians received the state's final approval to build a new casino 30 miles southeast of Sacramento in Plymouth on Highway 49. Warner Gaming will develop the Ione Band Casino, for which the plan is to build a 120,000 square foot casino featuring 1,200 slot machines, 40 table games, full-service restaurant, buffet, coffee bar, and sports bar. A second phase of construction will reportedly add a 250-room hotel and a conference center. 

The Ione Band of Miwoks Casino will be the third casino in Amador County. The other two are the Harrah's Northern California Casino in Ione and Jackson Rancheria Casino in Jackson.
