The Normandie Casino Review - CLOSED
The Normandie Casino is located at 1045 West Rosecrans Avenue in Gardena, California. The venue has been operated by the Miller family since the 1940's and is one of the only family-run casinos in California or the entire country for that matter. It is the last remaining card club of the original So-Cal clubs. Originally opened in 1940, before any Indian casinos were on the scene and Las Vegas was just beginning to boom, Russ Miller bought the venue in 1947 and renamed the Western Club to its current name.
The 15,000 square foot casino is open 24 hours a day and features over 50 tables. California and Asian games include Blackjack, Pai-gow Poker, Pan 9, Pai-gow Tiles and Caribbean Stud games. Head to head poker action is found in games of Texas Hold-em, Omaha high/low, Seven card stud or Lowball.

Poker at Normandie Casino
The Normandie Casino is Southern California's oldest casino. It's not as large as some of the other Los Angeles rooms, but it has been recently renovated and offers a good selection of lower limit action. The games are mostly limit, but there is a $1/2 NL game with a $300 max buy-in that is spread most evenings after 7pm. For those NL players looking for a great action game be sure to stop by on most weekend nights for a wild and loose $2/5 game with a $300 minimum buy-in and no maximum buy-in. The play at this game has been known to resemble a much higher stakes game because of the no maximum buy-in.
Normandie now offers a Late Night Tournament with a $2k guarantee that's held most nights and weekends at 10:15p. In addition, on Friday nights they run a Ladies night $2k guarantee tourney at 7p hosted by Barbara Enright. All tournaments are $50 buy-in, $10 entry fee with free food and soft drinks included.
The Normandie has recently installed flatscreen TVs and an automated waitlist. There is a snack area, a gift shop and restaurant with reasonable prices and good food as well as a fairly large showroom. It reminded us of the old Las Vegas showrooms.
