Saratoga Race Course Review

Saratoga Race Course has been running live horse races for 150 years in historic Saratoga Springs, New York. The venue was named by Sports Illustrated as one of the world’s greatest sporting venues, and indeed it is. Not to be confused with the Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Jefferson Street, the Saratoga Race Course is located at 267 Union Avenue, in Saratoga Springs, New York, a few minutes away.

Here you will find premiere racing, but no casino games.  The venue is one of three owned by the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) along with Aqueduct and the world famous Belmont Park, home of the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown.

The Race Course has three tracks, one of dirt and two turf. Steeplechase races are also run here on the turf courses.

In addition to several dining venues, visitors can place wagers on thoroughbred races 7 days per week and bridge simulcasts 6 nights per week.

Gaming at Saratoga Race Course

The meet at Saratoga lasts a total of 40 racing days, with races being held six days of each  week beginning in mid-July and usually ending  on Labor Day. Tuesdays are dark but simulcast racing is open. Pari-Mutuel wagers are taken at live tellers and kiosks.

During the summer the simulcast lounges are hopping with activity while bettors place their wagers on live broadcast races from premiere tracks such as Monmouth and Del Mar. Live music and simulcasting occurs at the El Verano & Shake Shake Paddock Bars.

The Club Terrace

  • Serving: American

Overlooking the backyard & paddock on the second floor of the Clubhouse behind the box seats at Saratoga Race Course you will find the Club Terrace dining venue. Enjoy a great selection of appetizers, fresh salads, and specialty sandwiches in the open air. As you won't be able to see the races live from this vantage point, television monitors are placed at strategic locations so you don't miss a single hoof beat.

Breakfast at Saratoga on the Lower Porch

  • Serving: Breakfast, Buffet

One of the long standing traditions at Saratoga is the breakfast buffet. Every race day from 7am until 9:30am you can enjoy a splendid breakfast buffet as you watch the Thoroughbreds prepare for the day's races. The workouts are accentuated by the commentary of lifelong horsewoman, Mary Ryan who knows just about all there is to know about the history of Saratoga as well as the horses in the workouts. Be part of the tradition and get to Race Course early.
