I stayed 2 nights here, the first night we had a problem, which was not resolved to my satisfaction with being put in a smoking room. The desk clerk informed me there were no other non smoking rooms available and so we had no choice but to stay in that room and it did smell quite smoky. I had no problem with that, however the next morning at 7 A.M. I went to see at what point we could move to a non smoking room and the morning desk clerk informed me that he had a free room right then that he could put us in, and in my opinion it seemed unlikely that the room would be vacated and cleaned so quickly, I believe the night clerk just didnt want to deal with it. The first night we were there, there were 2 bus loads of kids there so we thought it would be noisy...not a bit. One of the quietest hotels I have stayed in, good continental breakfast, nice pool and hot tub ( I didnt swim, but the kids had a blast (age 13). Smaller TV in the room, but since we werent in Ames for the TV that was no problem. Beds were very comfortable as well. I would definitely stay here again, but specify non-smoking room!

The hotel was very full and when I got up in the morning to take a shower there was no hot water. The bed was uncomfortable and felt like a $* mattress you can buy at the bargain furniture store. I forgot to check out when I left the hotel in the morning so I called them and dropped the key off later, the clerk I talked to said that she would discount my room because of the hot water situation but when I looked at my CC bill there was no discount. All in all an unpleasant experience. I travel to Ames about once a month for an overnight and I will not stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here while looking at IA State University. Don't expect eggs or bacon at breakfast, but hey, the breakfast comes with the room. Clean, but next time I'll bring my own pillow. Sheets are rather worn. It was hot in the room so we turned the ac fan on; it was loud all night long when it would kick in.
