I Stayed at the Aqua Waikiki Wave for my birthday in January 2011. I arrived late at night, and was given a room on the 4th floor. Very noisy (street noise) and a view of a parking garage. I called the front desk in the morning and requested a room change. I mentioned that I was trying to relax for my birthday. I was offered an upgraded room for a very nominal fee. I changed rooms to the 12th floor. What a change ! Beautiful suite with 3 queen sized beds, two balconies and a beautiful full view of the Pacific ! The room was very clean and I appreciated the fact that the entire hotel is non-smoking. On my birthday, the general manager left me a nice bag of macadamia nut cookies and best wishes. The front desk woman, ABC, was very pleasant and efficient. I travel extensively with my job, and have stayed in many suites around the world. The only thing that would have made this room better would have been an upgraded / improved mini-bar / dining area. It had the same coffee machine, microwave and refrigerator as the other less expensive room. The suites that I have stayed in generally have a special area which is supplied with wine glasses, full sized refrigerators, etc. If the management upgraded this area, the room would be perfect. All told, this hotel is in a great location, friendly staff and mangement, and a great deal ! On a different note, I was sent a request for a review of this hotel by Travel agency, who I booked the room through, and they lost it. ? Next time I will post my review directly on the hotel's site. I will return to the Aqua Waikiki Wave in the future. Mahalo.

To make this easier I will list the pros and cons Pros -5 minutes from Waikiki beach on foot -International market right behind the hotel easy trinket shopping -Plenty to eat around the hotel including a fabulous Chinese restaurant inside the hotel #40recommend#41 -Extremely helpful and courteous staff must say they were very outgoing and friendly -Price -Room was clean #40Just old#41 -ABC store and grocery store right by hotel Cons -Very loud #40complimentary ear plugs in your room should tip you off#41 Every night was awakened by some sort of street racket or the car lift parking garage directly next door or the loud music at the International Market -No view whatsoever -* per night to park in garage will supplement your bill plenty by checkout and no guarantee you will even get a spot in the small garage. -Too much nightlife around drunk people screaming at all hours of the night. I even saw someone urinating in the alley from my balcony. -Front desk didnt know the trail to Diamond Head was closed for past 3 months #40seems like something they should know#41 -Very erratic elevators that stopped at random floors with nobody there eventually broke down and had to use housekeeping service elevator or stairs. -Best time to sleep without noise was around 3 PM...... This hotel definitely was a mixed bag definitely could do better definitely could do worse based on what I saw. If you do stay here try to get a room as high as possible!!!

For my first trip to Hawaii this hotel meet the needs of a quotnewbiequot. The room all be it was on the third floor facing towards the parking garage across the alley it was clean enough and large enough. I wasnt in there very often but it was good for sleeping showering and changing. The location was close to the beach and restuarants we walked pretty much everywhere. The Hotel staff was friendly helpful and responsive to problems when they occured. I would definetly stay here again but I would stay on a floor higher than the third to knock out some of the noise issues from the alley.

I've been to Honolulu on several occasions and have stayed in five different hotels in that time. This one was easily the worst. The hotel has one of the smallest parking lots in all of Honolulu and it's first come first serve. The wireless internet is so slow its practically nonexistent. The hotel sundry store doesn't open until after 8am and the pool is only open 9 to five. Add to the fact that it is across from a strip club/adult DVD store and that hookers solicit customers as they're walking in the door of the hotel, and it's obvious that you'd be better off staying somewhere else.
