While this is not a five star hotel, it is a great value for your money. It is also in a great location because you are in the middle of the North and South shores, and this hotel has great beach access too. We would stay at this hotel again.

Have lived on Kauai in recent years and always recommend this resort to those wanting to stay on the east side between Lihue and the North Shore. Rooms are clean; staff are friendly; the beach at Lydgate Park is "right outside" and an excellent choice for families with young children. Two pools and spas are nice as well. For the price, it can't be beat on the island.

We booked this hotel with a plane and rental car package and the total was not much more than the airline tickets booked alone directly from the airline. My wife started reading online reviews for the hotel and was not a happy camper. Well we made do fine with no microwave. Other people complained about the roosters crowing at all hours; well that is true but they are all over the island so you will not get away from them no matter what! Overall the room was clean, everything worked, the view was excellent, the people were friendly and helpful. It was an easy walk or drive to Lydgate park. We walked the beach and snorkeled inside the protected area and saw a variety of fish, including some blue parrotfish. We used the slow elevator to get our bags up and down, otherwise we used the stairs. We would stay there again for the right price.

Our stay, first week of June 2010. The complimentary coffee- we didn't have any condiments in our room, we called the front desk, they made us go to the front desk to retrieve the packet (which was a serving for one. Was told "if you want more, you must retrieve from the restaurant"). First night, we found some sort of beetle in the bathroom sink, second night killed a cockroach, third night killed another cockroach. Had to call and ask for a 'do not disturb' sign for the door. First day our room was 'cleaned', coffee was left in the pot, the coffee cups still had coffee in them. You have to use a lot of strength to open the sliding door, which the lock didn't work. Do Not try to even check in for your room even ONE minute prior to 3pm check in time. Front desk personnel are not caring or apologetic. Your complimentary coffee is only for your first mornings stay. The light switch in the bathroom was corroded with gunk or just filth and disgusting, and everything is just really old, rusted, and crusty. There are rooster's and chickens all over the island. You won't get any sleep, the rooster's crow continuously all day, all night, right outside your room (which isn't the fault of the hotel). Would NEVER stay here again. Would never recommend. Also, do not leave out ANY kind of food in your room. We brought back left over pizza, it was in a pizza box on the dresser. Woke up to thousands of ants all in the box, all over the dresser leading down onto the carpet. I travel a lot, have always had left overs in my room, and have never experienced ants. Beetles and cockroaches and ants, oh my!

Staff were wonderful. Two towels - just ask for more. Room a little worn didnt go to Hawaii to sit in a hotel room!!! TV old - didnt turn it on its vacation people!!! Central to everything. Beach within walking distance - great for kids. Awesome playground right there for smaller kids. Room was fine for sleeping and showering Hawaii is all about being outdoors!!! Enjoyed meeting locals at pool - kids were friendly #40like everyone in Hawaii!#41 Loved comfy open air lobby with wifi and waterfall sound. Grounds were pretty. Very reasonably priced not plush but fine as a jumping off point for vacation activities.
