My family stayed at this hotel on Sept. and although it was very clean the staff was not very kid friendly. We checked in a 7:30 and after traveling for 5 hours across the state of SD stopping off at numerous tourist stops my kids were really wanting to go for a swim, however we were informed that the pool closed for adult only swim after 8 o'clock. Then I was informed by the mgr. that my kids needed to be extremely quite or he would ask us to leave and this was still during the check in process and my kids were not even in the hotel yet. While carrying our stuff up to the room the night mgr shows up and once again tells me that my kids need to be quite (7:45 pm). We left to go see mt rushmore at night and get away to blow off some steam, while also trying to avoid the wrath of the night mgr. Artic pool opens 10 am the next morning and 3 and 4 year old still want to go swimming, we go down dunk our toes because it is so cold, go shower and hurry to leave the hotel by 11 check out. Arms loaded up with 3 backbacks, 2 suitcases and kids in tow we exit the room, but not to be out done by the night mgr. we get a call at 11:03 wondering why we have missed the 11 o'clock check out. A little fed up I ask mgr. to get the name of the owner, a man sitting next to him at the front desk says thats me, no how can i help you or what can i do for you. Turns back to counting his money. service???

Nice hotel. The room was huge and very clean. TV, refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, coffee make. The continental breakfast was good and had a good variety. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

the best thing about this hotel is that it is about 2 mi out of the hustle and bustle of Keystone (about 4 mi from mt rushmore). it is also probably one of the best places to stay in Keystone, but it is not all that great. the room smelled like smoke, although we thought it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. the window was filthy, and the bottom of the shower curtain was also dirty. front desk is ok, manager is good. pool is nice. although crowded at times. we have an unresolved issue pending with the housekeeping staff.
