The hotel is only a block from the Termini Station, which makes it accessible to the Metra and buses, although I would recommend to catch the train at Republica station rather than the Termini because of the ongoing construction. It was like a maze with the construction at Termini. The hotel staff speaks good english and they were accommodating, giving us suggestions and directions on our request. We stayed here for 8 days and will definitely recommend to future travellers, but the only hitch is the bed. We were 3 in the room and the queen bed is made of 2 twin beds put together and whenever you move, I always end up in between the bed. The pillows were hard but was replaced when we requested for a softer one, the linen is always fresh. We were on the 2nd flr and it was a little bit noisy since the room was near the streets. The rooftop bar/restaurant seems to be a little bit pricey with E* per person for a dinner and the only perk is the view from the rooftop. Overall, I will recommend this hotel due to accessibility to transportation.

We stayed at the Mediterraneo for 4 nights in May of 2010 and had a wonderful time! The hotel is in a prime location--very easy to get around with buses, trains, or on foot. The Central Termini area is safe--some reviewers lead you to believe otherwise. My husband and I walked at night and never felt uncomfortable in Rome--just have your wallet hidden under your clothing (I didn't bring my purse). The staff was helpful and spoke English pretty well. The hotel is reasonably priced, the hotel was clean, the breakfasts decent, and they had a gym (hard to find in Europe sometimes). Some friends of ours stayed in a different hotel and paid nearly twice what we paid and their hotel was subpar to the Mediterraneo. We had a minor issue with the bathroom that was fixed right away when brought to the staff's attention. The staff provided recommendations for eating (Cecio was fabulous and very close to the hotel), and tours (the tour of Capri was AMAZING--YOU MUST GO THERE!!!). Overall we had a great experience in Rome, and we would stay at the Mediterraneo again.

We recently stayed at the HBM for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It is a beautiful hotel and well maintained. The entire staff was friendly and so very helpful, they really do believe in service. The room was comfortable, very clean, and the little things such as a well stocked refrigerator and complimentary snack tray with tea pot were well appreciated. The breakfast buffet is complete, and the roof restaurant is delicious-especially their chocolate sundae! The location is tops for convenience, just 2 short blocks from the train station, Metro, and bus terminals. If we make another trip to Rome, we'll definitely stay here again.

Just spent a week in Rome and stayed at this lovely hotel the entire time. This was our second trip to Rome and our second time to stay here and would recommend it to anyone. The rooms are well appointed and spacious and the air conditioning works well. Our room was on the 8th (of 10 floors) and had a privacy door that separated the bed/living area from the entry way area that contained the bathroom on one side and a separate closet/dressing room on the other side. Not something you see very often and much appreciated. The roof top terrace is lovely, cozy and affords a wonderful view of the city, especially at night and the food and drinks were great. The staff is very friendly, most helpful and quite accommodating. The hotel is also very conveniently located to Termini station, which means you are a two minute walk from catching the Metro, all the trains and any bus you can think of. It's also an easy walk to many attractions and there are many restaurants with outside patios along any route you take. Great location - great hotel - would go back in a heartbeat!

If youi are looking for a clean place close to the historical places, this is your hotel. The train terminal is 1/2 block from the hotel, we did not use a taxi at all! I will come back to the mediterranean.
