We arrived in the late evening and were upgraded to a larger room without asking, which was very nice. The staff was cheerful and attentive. If arranging a limo to the airport, be sure to settle on a price; they charge more if it's very early in the morning.

Low rating for Pioneer Square/great location/uninterested staff, stuffy rooms

I want to let you know that I thought this hotel was the worst place I have stayed in during all my travel experience. it is old, and is supposed to have character historically. I just percived it as fire safety hazards. Elevator did nto always work. The rooms are drab and smell of smoke. The staff is very unaware of the area. However, i think the location is very good and is near the bus system for getting around. One of the clerks actually gave us directions to the monorail which I understand has been down for several years. When I came back to discuss this, there was apathetic response. I have some bad memories of this place which i stayed at last year......I just don't want to refer any one else to this place. I do think that it is great that you do elicit comments from people who have stayed at the hotels. It is very helpful.

The Pioneer Square is walking distance from sports stadiums, the ferry terminal and King St Amtrak station. The Pioneer Square area features neat shops and restaurants in a setting of Victorian brick buildings. It's a little longer walk (20 minutes) to Pike Place Mkt and downtown.
The property is an older hotel that has been attractively modernized. The only down side might be that in the winter heat comes from a window air conditioning unit. The price includes a nice buffet breakfast. It's not a boutique hotel but a pleasant place in a historic area. -

We went for a Mariner's game. This hotel is within easy walking distance. So are numerous restuarants for every budget. The shopping is fabulous. It's a beautiful hotel. Ask for the room over looking Yessler. We are all ready making plans for next year's trip. The people were wonderful. The room was lovely. It's close to all of the fun things in Seattle. The waterfront is right 'there'. Parking was about two blocks away--and tricky to access when the garage is closed. But we absolutely loved it. Can't wait to go back. Take in the horse drawn buggy.

2 of us enjoyed this hotel so much more than the cheaper no frills motel we stayed at near Seattle Center in April. It was worth $* more. The room was pretty, quality furnishings, good working shower, comfortable beds, did not notice room noise from neighbors. I asked for more sugar/creamer packets than coffee & received quickly, only thing staff couldn't do was get me another copy of the newspaper I left on the bus (not their fault!). Free newspaper & breakfast (hard boiled eggs, cereals, breads, pastries, bagels, muffins, several juices, coffee, teas) daily. Mint candy on your pillow! Feel security was very good as when I returned from seeing the musical "Young Frankenstein", the front door was locked & security had to let me in. Hotel located a couple of blocks from the Waterfront, short uphill walking distance to the free buses. In 2009 the tunnel light rail will be just a block away, can go from International area near train station to the hotel even more easily. Chose Pioneer Square area because it is about 6 blocks from the Amtrak station, more convenient to lug luggage a short distance--instead of from downtown, where I used to stay. Front desk staff very friendly & helpful in printing out bus directions to go to Southcenter & Bellevue Square shopping malls. We will definitely be back!
