After a long and rough cruise, we were looking forward to getting a quick nap after we checked in but before our dinner reservation. What were we thinking. Upon arrival to the hotel at approximately 1:30 pm after driving 4 hours, the front desk clerk, barely gave me time to walk up to the counter when he rudely shouted, "check in is after 3PM and there are no rooms ready, so come back sometime after 3". What a jerk. I asked how long after 3 and he just snapped, "don't know, cause we're going to be full tonight". I was a disgusted and told him to cancel my reservation that I would find another hotel. He said he couldn't cancel since it was not 24 hrs notice and when I asked to speak with the manager, he said he was the manager. I asked to speak with his manager and he told me he had none, as he was the "OWNER" of the hotel. IF THIS IS HOW AN OWNER TREATS HIS CUSTOMERS, I AM GLAD WE DID NOT STAY THERE. Found a nice Marriott down the street with a huge rom (a little old and worn) but they were sure nice to us when we asked if they had a room available.

We were there when our plans changed and the other hotel (Clarion Inn)this Native American Group owns in Anchorage couldn't get us inearly. The noise in the park noted in another review was a 24 hour walk for Cancer research, and the hotel tried to quiet the college & younger age crowd. The rooms are small and cramped compared to similar hotels in the lower 48, A tour bus (one of many) blocked all the handicap spots andrefused to move when we arrived. Ms Crow the Front Office Manager did get him to move, but there is the last I saw of management. There is no accessible two bed unit, so the wheelchair made the small rooms feel more cramped. The A/C unit is in the bedroom, so the bathroom area and sitting room get little cool air, making it hard to sleep. The spa was closed much of our visit, and the pool overrun by loud unaccompanied kids two of three days we were in town. Breakfast had a fair selection of fruit, breads, and cereal. But other than waffles you made, the hot food was often luke warm when eaten. We were fortunate to befriend the blond Jessica (there were 2), a Front Desk agent who went out of her way to assists us when she could. The business center internet had Tour Host on it many times I tried to use it. Their maintainance man is very nice too. The ocean, shopping, and many food options are within walking distance. We'd stay there again, but it would not be our first choice.
