I was in Gulfport in October 2010 for five days to spend time with my son before he was deployed overseas. The room was nice and clean and I was very pleased with house keeping's job each day. However I was far from pleased with the husband/wife owners. I picked that motel because the website said it had an outdoor pool with a sundeck which is what my son wanted since the week was to be 85 degrees and sunny. We got there to find out the pool was closed for the season. It was full of water, the filtration system running and the neighboring motels pools were open, but the owner refused to unlock the gate. We asked if we could just use the sun deck so the six of us could sit outside talking and enjoying the sunshine, but again he refused. If they had tried to do something...anything to accomodate us with an outside area to sit and talk, but the answer was always short and uncaring...No, pool closed...Sundeck closed...Go to beach. I strongly suggest you look for a different motel where I'm sure you would be treated better.

Hotel was perfectly fine and served its purpose -- a place to sleep over night. Very convenient to Gulfport airport. Like most of the hotels in this area, it is showing some age, but was reasonably comfortable.

I will agree that it is a good value for the money, right on the highway with easy access to area shopping and entertainment. But, it is not a military friendly hotel. There are 3 major military bases in the area. Each one of the hotels in that area know, that there is a cap on funds for military members to stay at a hotel in the area when the base cannot have the member stay on base. The current rate is $80.00 per day. The management at the Comfort Inn Gulfport will not honor that, nor will they disclose that the rates are much more then what the military will allow. The other hotels will disclose. I had stayed at the hotel and when I spoke to the manager about this, his statement was ? I will charge whatever I want to you guy?s ? He did admit that he knew that the most a member can spend is $80.00 and that he will continue to charge what he wants to the military. I find this to be a dishonest way of doing business, especially if a military member is not aware. The military member will be taken advantage of. I have been in the military 22 years now and I have no excuses for not looking into to it ahead of time, shame on me. I was charged a lot more then I should have been and I will have to pay for it out of my own pocket. I do not fault anyone that is trying to make a buck these days. But to take advantage of someone in a dishonest way is not good business.
