It was the most convenient place being in the VERY HEART of old historic Charleston. The satff were ALL very nice. The otside was very pretty with ample parking and a nice outdoor pool. However the rooms were not updated since the 1980s and the bathroom had that 70s feeling. Nonetheless, it was comfortable and roomy. I couldnt beat the price for staying 3 nites @ $* per nite. Excellent for the area!!! Here are the two caveats. One reviewer said their toilet broke and it took a while to fix. My toilet also broke because it was old but they fixed it properly. One reviewer complained about waterbugs aka big cockroaches. I understand that Charleston is in a sub-tropic zone so that big bugs come with the territory. Twice a big waterbug came out of the sink. I cannot hold the hotel responsible for this although it was icky. I ended up keeping the drains closed and that was the end of the problem, After it happened, I checked my whole room -walls, blankets etc and went to bed satisfied the hotel was clean and there isnt much you can do about the city's climate and insects getting in. Just remember it can happen!!! Overall I would go back.

This hotel has a great location, but that is the only good aspect. It was dark, dirty, and stinky. I would rather stay anywhere else in Charleston. The ladies at the front desk weren't very nice either. awful!

The parking was very inconvenient. The hotel was rundown and in need of updating. Other patrons spent over an hour drinking beer at the hotel pool. I had no hot water the first day I was there. It was not worth the money I paid for the room.

Hotel has a great location on Meeting Street. Has a great restaurant and bar. Our room was somewhat small. Shower head did work properly but was fixed next day. AC leaked water under bead and into carpet. Asked to be repaired and they put a bath towel on the floor to absorb moisture. Cable wire from wall was defective and tv was not clear. You could jiggle wire and would improve reception for a while. Parking was poor. Had to park in parking deck one nite. Hotel did reimburse amount of parking fee. Storage under bathroom sink was blocked by a piece of plywood. It had the two doors but no undersink storage area. Maybe this is common, but we needed the space. Electronic key cards did not work properly. Had to have them reprogrammed twice in five days. We woluld not stay here again. I would not recommend this hotel to others.

I was surprised how outdated the hotel was. For the area it certainly needs updating. The room did not feel clean, because of the old carpet and the slapped on paint. It is very central to everthing and parking is no issue. There is no room service, but some nice resturants nearby.
