AWFUL. We arrived and the room wasnt even cleaned. There was a hair in the shower (apparently from a previuos guest) which remained for the 4 days I was there. The bed sheets had cigarettes burns and the toilet seat had a weird brown spot.

Don't Stay Here; Loud Train Whistles!

The Days Inn at Oakland Park Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is a nightmare to stay in, mostly because of the LOUD train whistles that go on thru the night and early morning hours. Our stay was very recent as in May 12, 2010. Train whistles blew on up to around 11 PM at night. There was a brief lull, and then LOUD, BLARING train whistles picked up again around 5 AM in the morning, and kept going more & more as the morning went on. By 7 to 8 AM there were LOUD, BLARING train whistles blowing about once every 20 minutes. Could no longer sleep anymore by early morning. Not only this, but when I first originally checked in, we were given a room whose toilet was broken. Then, the 2nd room I was given, the air conditioner was broken. So this meant we had to move in to a 3rd room. Finally, this room was adequate on the 3rd floor, but it should NOT have taken us 3 tries in order to get it right with the room. The owners of this motel are not keeping up with the maintenance of this motel and letting things fall apart and break down with broken toilets and broken air conditioners! The breakfast in the morning was adequate with 2 cereals offered, oatmeal, milk, 2 juices, apple & orange, as well as some very good coffee by Folgers, I guess. It was nice strong coffee. The small doughnuts were powdered & glazed to choose from. I didn’t see any danish pastries though. I cannot recommend this motel to others because the motel is only a stone’s throw away from the train tracks of the noisy Tri-Rail, Amtrak, and who knows whatever other trains are blowing their whistles at all hours.

I stayed only because with arrived with my daughter late at night. The check-in office is in a separate building and the service is mediocre. Breakfast is right next to the counter and entrance. Not at all set up to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. Building is old with bedspreads from the 60's. Everything is old and not worth what you pay for. Place is also noisy. Not very close to the airport. No problems with shuttle service. Would not want to have this place being part of my hotel chain. I will be very sceptica to stay in a Days Inn again.

The location of the hotel is good. However, I had difficulties with the internet service. I called the front desk seeking help and was informed by the female employee there was nothing she could do. After several times of trying to get internet service, I called Travelocity for assistance. I was informed by Paul, Travelocity, to obtain the internet provider's number from the front desk. When I went to the front desk, the female employee became argumentative and hostile towards me for calling the travel agency. She was unprofessional and rude in front of other customers waiting at the counter. The management never called nor stopped by to see if my internet issue was resolved. Throughout my stay, I called the internet service provider several times to obtain service. I paid for a service that was not provided upon payment. Finally, I left the hotel a day earlier due to the lack of internet service. I asked for a check out receipt and was told by a different female employee she could not provide me with it. I also toured the facility and noticed a few light bulbs were not on at night. A good note though, the housekeeper was sweet and helpful.
