The location was very conventient for visiting the zoo and beach. Price was commensurate with the facility which is an older property, but clean. No elevator made it a little troublesome with luggage and clothing for a three day stay. Rooms were fairly small but well appointed. We asked to change rooms from the one assigned but the staff intiially declined as we had opened a bar of soap. After our insistance, we were reassigned a nicer room in the front of the property with a view of the street and zoo across the way. Continental breakfast was scant and in a very small cramped area to access food and coffee/juice. We'd stay again due to location/price.

The upside: free parking, across from the zoo, very close to the beach and golden gate park. The downside: the motel is a little run-down, our no-smoking room had been smoked in -YUCK!, dirty carpets, ok beds. We planned to stay for three nights but left after the first. If our room hadn't smelled so bad, we might have stayed. The continental breakfast is a packaged doughnut/bear claw thingy, no cerial or muffins. There are not many places to stay in this area of S.F. - my advise, do your homework before you book. We found a really cute, 1930's style motel around the corner for a very reasonable price.

Not friendly for handicaps

The rooms were clean and roomy but dirty face & hand towel found hanging when we checked in. I slept sweating with a headache because the air conditioner was broken. Maintenance wouldn't be available until the following morning. We were given another room the next day. There is handicap parking but no elevator. We had to carry our heavy luggages via 3 flights of stairs. Continental breakfast needs improvement.

I have stayed in this property several times. the manager is very nice and hospitable. She makes you feel like home. The location is perfect. I spend most of my time downtown it takes less than 5 mins to get downtown from this hotel. I will always stay here is I am able.
