Price was important, as was the basic comforts of a clean, safe, and comfortable place to stay. The price was so good for these days that we were really surprised at what met us. The site used to be a chain motel and is being renovated into a much nicer hotel. Our room was lovely with good quality laminate floors, bedding, and bathroom. We also had free wi-fi in our room. There was a small breakfast set out in the mornings. There was a nice swimming pool that we didn't go in, but it looked inviting. There were other parts of the grounds being developed. We had a problem with noise overhead one night at 1:00 AM--the problem with the laminate floors is that they don't muffle sound. We tried to go back to sleep but the loud noise of what must have been a party continued. We called the office, and there was someone there! They stopped the noise, and the next day assured us that they would be patrolling the halls and it wouldn't happen again. And, it didn't. We definitely would stay there next time we visit our son in Davis.

yes, perhaps a work in progress but I couldn't wait to get outta there after walking into my room! The room had not been made up, pizza and beer cans were overflowing out of the garbage can, etc etc. I went back and requested another room, and it wasn't much better! I checked out and found another place. Maybe next year after construction is complete, and ownership has their act together.

When I arrived, Stone Villa did not have my reservation so I had to spend some time on the latter's VIP line having it faxed to the hotel. The sole front desk staffer was very nice and extremely apologetic but a rush in guests overwhelmed her, so I was on my own hunting down the reservation. I believe the hotel recently changed ownership, and the entire facility was undergoing a remodel. My room was about 75% complete with a bit of painting remaining as well as some tilework in the bathroom. Despite the above issues, I'd return. The room was a great deal, on top of being clean and quiet despite being a few blocks from highway 80. The furniture was new. I felt like my care was safe as there was parking behind my room, mostly tucked away from the through roads. Complimentary breakfast included began at 6:00am Sunday, very convenient for me as I had to make a bike race about 60 miles away that morning. If excellent finishwork or a crack staff are important to you, you might want to look elsewhere or consider Stone Villa in the future, after they finish the rooms and work out other kinks. If you're not too picky, give them a try.
