My husband and I stayed at the Doubletree one night before heading out on a cruise. We chose the place because we found a good deal on a room and was close to the airport. The provide a shuttle to the hotel to and from the airport. When we arrived the front desk was chaotic because there was a large group that had just arrived and was being checked in. After waiting for about 20-30min to get checked in, the guy at the front desk upgraded our room to a suite! We weren't unhappy about the wait and never complained about it, he just did it on his own. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We ordered room service for dinner and everything was great! The only complaint I have is their breakfast. We weren't given vouchers for breakfast, so we had to pay for the very small breakfast buffet in the only restaurant available at the hotel. It was pretty pricey for the 2 of us and the food was basically like eating at a continental breakfast. The Miami Mart that is attached closes early and opens late on weekends, so we didn't get to experience any of the shopping there.

Although this is an older property, it's clear that Doubletree has done a solid job keeping up with new fixtures, bedding/mattresses, and furniture. We checked in late in the evening after a three week Honeymoon, very ready for home and not looking forward to another hotel stay. As we checked in we saw that the staff had their hands full with a huge wedding reception. Yet, we were given exceptional, personalized service by the staff. The room was clean and large, and the bed was so comfortable I don't think we moved an inch once we fell asleep. The bathroom had been recently updated and the fixtures were very modern. Would certainly stay here again.

My wife and daughter went to Venezuela for a ""quincea?era"" party for the first niece in the family to turn 15 years old. They both traveled through Miami on the way to Caracas. On the way back they stayed at the Miami Mart Airport Hotel. Their stay was great, they both like the place and they were sorry that it was for only one night as they have to get up early next day for the trip back to Houston. Based on her experience I will defenitely stay there next time we travel to Venezuela or just for a vacation. The price was great!

Under-Staffed, Not Special, Dirty, Restaurant out of Food, Confusing

Reservation details were not at front desk upon arrival. Group traveling by motorcycle, wondered if we would all be staying at the same place as staff reported there were no rooms. Terribly understaffed at check-in, lines deep with waiting customers. Elevator was filthy dirty. Room smelled of previously being a smoking room sometime during it's life. Didn't count the bathroom linen but when a washcloth was needed we realized we had one, used a hand towel instead. Needed internet access and was willing to pay the $9.95 to connect to the Wireless. The password never worked, called and went through seven nonworking passwords and was finally told that the internet was down for the ENTIRE hotel???? Went to the front desk and was offered access to the vacant concierge desk computer (Huh, one computer was working anyway) The restaurant was a mess, looked like a herd of locusts had descended upon it, tables loaded with dirty dishes, very low staffed, this was 8:00 p.m. on a Monday night. One waiter brought our food in one swoop, my selection nestling between his armpit and tummy, come on...make two trips and keep your body out of my food. Slow and rude, made it seem like ordering a drink was a crime rather then a treat at the end of the day. We will not return to the Sheraton on our trip back to Miami in January. One of our traveling companions said he called for room service and kept being told they did not have each of the items they tried to ordered. Finally the attendant said, "I'm sorry we don't have much to choose from, we are having financial difficulties so we just don't have the full menu." Now I understand.

We had booked a two night stay as part of a package through Travel agency. The package included two nights at the El Palacio Boutique Hotel. That hotel was awful and we checked out after one night. We then booked a room at this hotel. It was a night-and-day change. This hotel was VERY clean, very comfortable bed, great view of the airport (watching planes landing), restaurant was nice with good food. Bar area was very nice. Rating both hotels as 3 star hotels is crazy. El Palacio should be zero, this one easily a 4 star.
