We stayed at the Hanoi Calypso Hotel for a total of five nights. When there was some confusion about whether or not there was airport transfer, a vehicle was sent immediately to Noi Bai AIrport to get us. Manager Kevin Le met us at our car, and from that moment on, he and all of his staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and gracious. We were most impressed with the content of the city tour we booked through the hotel. It managed to pack in all of the major sites, there would be no way we could have seen as many things as we did that afternoon had we not taken the tour. The guides and drivers were always very punctual, even if we were running late. As far as the general accomodations, the room was very comfortable. As has been mentioned there was construction happening at the time we stayed, which was noisy, but that is of course no reflection on the hotel, and is a perhaps a situation that often happens in Hanoi. One item particular to mention, we experienced a robbery in Hanoi, my passport was stolen. The staff was so understanding and helpful in advisiing us. They even escorted us two evenings to the police station to help us sort out the red tape. When we couldn't manage to get dinner, they found a place selling pho noodles and brought it to our room- at midnight. We were very appreicative towards all of the staff at the hotel and especially Manager Kevin Le. Even despite our trouble, we had a memorable and pleasant stay. I can indeed highly recommend the Hanooi Calypso, As a new establishment they are quickly smoothing out all the rough parts, and are on their way to becoming a top-notch place to stay in Hanoi.

I stayed at the Calypso for 4 nights during the month of June and I was pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort and the ammenities the hotel has to offered for the price I paid. Aside from the standard ammenities such as in-room safe and plasma TV, the room was also equipped with a desktop computer making it very easy to get into the internet to plan my day. Situated in the Old Quarter is in close walking proximity to most if not all of the attractions in Hanoi. The farthest I had to walk was to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and even then it was just a 12-15 minute walk. Although the Old Quarter is quite busy I didn't have a problem with street noise at night. The breakfast, included in the price, offers both Vietnamese and Western styles. And the food is delicious! I always had the Pho Beef (the breakfast that lifted a nation!). The staff is absolutely wonderful and always eager to help or solve any problems you may have as if they were their own. So cordial as well. Everytime I walked into the hotel they always asked me about my day and what I had planned next. Mr. Kevin, the General Manager, is very attentive to the needs of the guests and is always ready to set up anything you may need from the driver to pick you up or drop you off at the airport to any tour you may desire to go on. All in all the Calypso offers a great price/value relationship. You will not go wrong by booking this hotel.
