My husband and I decided we needed a mini escape. We chose the Heidel House after friends of ours had mentioned what a great experience they had at the Evensong Spa there. We had an amazing time. The winter season is considered "off season" and the resort was not crowded. This worked to our advantage as we received wonderful service. The setting was like a winter wonderland. The resort overlooks the lake and has walking paths throughout the property. We planned to spend part of our day at the spa and decided on a couples massage. The spa is across the street from the resort in a secluded most beautiful building. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and whisked away to get changed into robes. The massages were the best we have ever had anywhere! The staff were lovely and made sure our every need was catered to. The amenities are worth it. There is an indoor labyrinth to walk (I always wanted to do that!) The locker rooms have steam and hot tubs. And it was spotless! We ended up staying hours because we were so relaxed. We enjoyed a delicious lunch in their cafe, and hated to leave but had made reservations at the Grey Rock restaurant which is also on their property. Once again the service and food were outstanding! Evensong Spa and the Heidel House Resort were a wonderful find. We will be back and cannot wait to experience all of the seasons there!

The rooms are in serious need of updating. The service is very poor for the price and the staff treats everyone as though it is a favor for you to stay there. There are several smaller B&B's to check out in Green Lake before you fork over the cash to the Heidel House.

My wife and I wanted to stay semi close to home for our honeymoon, so I suggested Heidel House because I have so many great memories from family vacations there as a child. It ended up being a perfect choice. We loved walking along the lake at sunset which was really breathtaking. Our dinner at the Grey Rock restaurant was amazing as was the Sunday Brunch. One day we had a couples massage at Evensong Spa which was very relaxing, and on the other days there wasn't a shortage of things to do between the pools, game room (we love ping pong), tennis, etc. All the staff at the resort and spa were extremely friendly and helpful. I really couldn't have asked for better service or a better setting.

We went to a wedding in Green Lake that was hosted at the Heidel House in September. The location was very nice, right on the lake and the grounds were beautiful.
There are several different types of rooms (and locations) to choose from. We stayed in the "Guest House" which had about 8 rooms (4 upstairs and 4 downstairs). The upstairs rooms were ok and looked out over the lake. The downstairs rooms seemed more like they were in the basement and were very dark. All the rooms were a bit dated and the beds were not comfortable.
If you are going to enjoy the outside amenities it is great, the rooms are average, so if you are looking for luxury, this may not be the place. -
Don't go, I haven't ever experienced worse service!

My husband and I and our infant child went for our anniversary/family getaway as a timeshare gift from the nlaws. I think this will explain it all, we hadn't vacationed in 3yrs, worked an extra job all summer to spend money however we wanted here, drove 5 hours to get there and stayed for only 4 before we left & drove the entire way back the same day. I cannot explain how awful the experience was in 300 words. The room was disgusting, stunk to high heaven like someone smoked to death in the room and then rotted in there for days. The stench made our noses and eyes run. As soon as we arrived we asked for help with the smell & they showed up with a housekeeper who spoke no english except get out, you must leave 15 minute...pleasant after having an infant in a car for 5 hours. We went to have lunch, but couldn't get a waitress to bring a glass of water, let alone take our order for 15 min, so we were comped our first meal, then we decided to poke around the grounds, but unfortunatly our 1920's key didn't work to allow access into the indoor pool, the excerise room or the arcade, went to the desk and were told we weren't doing it right, but they couldn't get it either so they brought another key out that didn't work....went back to our room and called for reservations for breakfast the next day, but no one had time to take it and no one called us back. Meanwhile, the stench was still suffocating and the front office said were booked & wouldn't do a thing, but were "very sorry", much more but no room. Lost all that gas $$, time, a nightmare.
