Our stay in Keystone was wonderful. I took my 2 teenage daughters for a weekend away and this was the perfect motel to stay at. The desk personell were courteous and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the Continental Breakfast was good. The pool was a little on the cold side, but was still nice.

I agree with all of the rave reviews that other have voiced. They are right on about the parking and the continental breakfast. I just wanted to sing the praises of the front desk staff. When we checked out, we left our cooler packs in the freezer. I realized this when we got home 2 days later. I called the front desk and asked them to check if, by chance, the cooler packs were still in our room. (It was the off season. So, I figured every room wasn't rented every night.) The first person that I talked to said she would call me within the hour. When I didn't hear back that day, I called back the next. I spoke to Cassie. She checked and said that they did have them. She said she could send them back to us COD. Apparently, people leave things behind quite frequently. So, they send out packages every week or two. The cooler packs arrived in the mail today! So, I will gladly stay at this hotel if we ever return to the area and I will highly recommend it to anyone that I know that travels to that area.!!

We took a road trip to the Mount Rushmore area last week (October 2009). Keystone is a very small town that is obviously built around tourism. (Some of the hotels close for the winter season). We lucked out with our choice. The Holiday Inn Express is one of the newest in town. We ended up arriving during a snowy weekend and the first thing that the hotel staff asked when I checked in was how our trip up was. The lobby is not large but has several sitting areas, a fireplace, and a desk/ laptop so that a guest can check email, etc. The continental breakfast is off the lobby and better than average. We stayed for two days and the hot meat choice was bacon & scrambled eggs one day and sausage & cheese omelets the next, as well as biscuits, sausage gravy, a choice of toast and muffins, juices, and cereals. Rapid City newpapers were also available and there was a tv in the breakfast room; a plus since we were all checking out the weather forecast! Our room was a standard (w/king bed) but was roomy & bed was comfortable. No fridge but a flat screen tv. Decent sized pool and nice hot tub/spa. Lobby also had menus from several local restaurants. Short walk to "main street/boardwalk." Best features about hotel was the friendly and prompt service and how new/clean it all was. Only drawback (not hotel's fault) is that parking is alongside the hotel or at either end. A lot of vacant parking directly in front iof the hotel s reserved for "employees only." I asked about it and this refers to town employees...hard to imagine the small town has that many employees! Will definitely stay here again. Nice hotel and interesting area.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. My daughter and I were taking a road trip across several states and this was definitely the best hotel we stayed in. It seemed new, clean, and had all the ammenities one would need. We were walking distance from restaurants and shopping and Mt. Rushmore was just a short drive up the hill. There was a swimming pool but we didn't use it because we were so busy. We thought the continental breakfast was one of the best ever--scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy, yogurt, fruit, juice, and the usual toast, cereal, etc. We were traveling a little off-season so got a great, low rate. Would highly recommend!

Very responsive front desk personnel and rooms were clean and good sized. Couple of blocks to downtown and an easy walk. Very close to Mt. Rushmore which makes it easy to drive up the hill for the night time program. Agree with other reviews on parking - very tight but adequate.
