  We've traveled everywhere and never before written a hotel review. Bel Ami St. Germain earned a positive review from us not just because it's a modern, high end boutique hotel tucked neatly into the historic St. Germain district near to everything we wanted to do in Paris but because of the way they handled a small problem with keys on the last night of our 7 night stay in September 2009. Every business makes mistakes but what separated Bel Ami was their follow up within a week after our trip. After reviewing their procedures management wrote a very thoughtful note of explanation and apology. We were surprised and appreciative. While Bel Ami is every bit the high end and slightly more expensive place we choose in cities we don't know well as a way of hedging against a vacation-spoiling lodging surprise, we would have said the hotel's location was its biggest asset . Now we would say it is the hotel's concern for its guests' satisfaction, which was a nice conclusion to an overall refreshing vacation in Paris.
