We stayed at this hotel three years ago when it was a Hawthorne Inn. Because of our positive experience we booked it again (not knowing that it had changed to the Indigo and been redecorated.) Unfortunately, the name and decore were not the only things that have changed. The Hawthorn Inn was fun and friendly. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the happy hours with cheap box wine and the cookies at the front desk. The staff was friendly and so were the guests. It made up for the hotel being in BFE. The Indigo, however, had none of the above. Quite simply, it had no soul. I cannot think of a single reason to stay at this hotel again. San Antonio, as always, was fun. We will be back but will try a different hotel.

When I first arrived at this hotel, I was impressed. It was new with very euro-contemporary decor. It was different from most major American hotels. The staff were friendly. I got a great deal on the travel website for it and the parking was reasonable. My first impression was great. But... I can't hold the hotel entirely responsible for some of the minor inconveniences (e.g. no hotel services guide in the rooms, no towels in the bathroom upon arrival, etc.) because it's a new hotel and I could tell they were just kind of learning the ropes. When I did have an issue was when I discovered what I think were bed bug bites. Each morning I would wake up with a small welt or two in different parts of my body. It looked a lot like a mosquito bite, but itched a lot less. By the time I left, I had about 3 or 4. Nor horrible by bed bug attack standards, I guess, but still... And I suppose it could've been a series of spider bites, but is that really better? It was pretty gross. I didn't want to write this review becase the people were nice and it seemed like a nice place. But I got to thinking, that is precisely why I should write it - looks can be deceiving. I'd pass on this one. It's convenient and all, but I'd spend a little more money and go somewhere more reputable.

Overall we were "okay" with our weekend stay at this hotel. The service was medicore, the restaurant understaffed but had decided we would probably be back because of the great rates. That was until we received our bill and realized they had charged us $* A NIGHT for our 17 lb dog! It amounted to an entire night's stay! We usually stay at they Grand Hyatt or Westin Riverwalk, who chage a "onetime" pet fee but had wanted to try something new...never again!
