the Hotel is cute and in a good location but very dark. our room was VERY tiny room 30, but did have a nice bathroom. way too dark for our taste. maybe rooms above are better but we looked out at a wall with fountain that was empty and kept running. I did get them to turn it off, they didn't know there was no water in it.

I can only sumise that the previous reviews were written by hotel staff. We stayed in this hotel for two weeks around Christmas in what was supposed to be an upgraded "large" room. The room was tiny, dark, and had a view of the wall of the building next door. The drapes were torn and tattered and the bed linens and pillows were what one might find at a low-cost budget motel. The elevator broke down 5 different days we were there. We had to request toilet paper and kleenex twice. We asked for more hangers as the 5 in the closet weren't enough for 2 people for two weeks and that was impossible. We asked if there was a place we could store our suitcases and that was iimpossible. We asked for where we might purchase wrapping paper nearby and were told we should purchase our presents in Paris and they would wrap them for us. We asked if we could just get coffee and not the 14-euro continental breakfast and were told "Non". The list goes on. On day 7 when I finally lost it with one of the daytime staff people who had to "check to see whether we really had toilet paper" before sending the maid to give us some, the manager did step in and sent champagne to the room. This was also funny as the only place in the room to place the tray was the bed. The hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to the wonderful St. Germain de Pres area and the metro. But a "gem" -- no. Good service -- not by any standards. I would not give this hotel any stars and will not return when I go to Paris.

Our hotel was an unexpected gem in a GREAT location. The nearby shooping and sites were wonderful. The management is very helpful and service-oriented. Nothing was a problem. Our first room was rather dark (with only one interior facing window) and they changed our room with no problem. Rooms are small but cosy and well-decorated. Staff helped with taxis, maps and excellent shopping suggestions on a Sunday when most of Paris is closed. The yummy (and inexpensive by Paris standards) breakfast was a treat in our room each morning. Other travelers seemed to be having the same wonderful experience. We would definately stay here again.

Hotel de L'Odeon Saint-Germain was an excellent experience for me. It is around the corner from the Odeon Metro stop and steps from the carrefour de odeon, where you'll find lovely cafes, restaurants, boutiques. The rooms are small, but it's very clean and the hotel staff is more than accomodating. Internet service is free! My room had a mini bar refrig and a safe to lock up valuables. There is a small wine & grocery shop on the next block and a supermarche on Rue de Buci so you don't have to eat out for every meal. The block is quiet and if you take a walk through this neighborhood there are more lovely cafes near St. Sulpice that are good alternatives to the very expensive ones on the Boulevard st. germain. And the wonder Jardin du Luxembourg is steps away.
