ABC. from Paterson, NJ stayed there March 21-25, 2011. The hotel is very beautiful, the check in desk is part of the restaurant lounge area. The room was a comfortable size. The staff was very polite and eager to please. The only issue we had was that the maids forgot to put fresh towels in the room. when we first checked n we had to call for towels and two days later, besides that everything else was great. Would definately stay again. Oh book online definately cheaper than directly with hotel.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was in a great location for walking around, within minutes of several good places to eat. (We highly recommend Siglo XX about two blocks away, down the street from the Subway, for excellent local food, well-priced, fresh and tasty. Be sure to ask for their hot-sauce, made there fresh.) The hotel staff was great, they were all very nice, spoke English well, were well-informed and helpful. Our room was in the newly renovated part, so it was clean and nice (apparently somewhat hard to find in PR, especially on a budget). We felt safe walking at night near the hotel, around the square a block over, and several blocks to the Pancho Sanza restaurant (exact same menu as Don Quixote restaurant on the other side of the street and a block further). Mayaguez downtown area has been revitalized and is great for walking. Streets are narrow and a challenge to drive if you're squeamish, but we had no problems at all. We had a great stay there and would definitely stay there again in the Hojo's.

Very nice place with excellent staff but not much around it at all. The plaza across the street could have been wonderful if something was happening, but it was dead as could be. Very few places to eat other than fast food & pizza without a long drive. The hotel was very clean and well guarded but no wifi other than in the lobby. Parking was an extra $4 per day and really not necessary as there were many open spaces on the streets. Breakfast was included, across the street at the bakery). They had a limited menu for hotel guests but ok and other food & pastries were quite inexpensive there. The beach was very nice but at least a 20 minute drive away. The hotel was impossible to find at first, even with a GPS, but after calling I was able to get fair directions and it was close to the main highway. Mayaguez is a very sleepy and poor city with very little to do other than go to the beach, not to mention it's almost a 3 hr ride from the San Juan airport no mater which way you take (take the northern route) Fortunately, we were only interested in warm weather, a safe place to stay and the beach. This most definitely the best place to stay in downtown Mayaguez
